Considering Diesel cars were not marketed here in the UK on emissions which were the reason that drivers won their claims in the USA. I have still to find anyone who bought their vehicle here in the UK who can truthfully say they bought the car based on its emissions and I was in the motor trade for 25 plus years. I can recall people switching to Diesel when they looked at the economy - I switched to Diesel for just that reason.
It is obvious these people are chancers - just like all the people who have signed up with the lure of free money - they can see the chances of large pay-outs disappearing so they still want to maintain their profit margins.
What happens if you say no? Are they going to drop your claim? Are they going to send you a bill for work already undertaken.

Angiebmw said:I signed up a good while ago and, like many others, have received repeated emails asking for the same information and, I’ve sent this each time?I’ve emailed PG a few times asking for an update and never receive a reply! I try calling but never get through, it’s not a comfortable or positive experience at all.Just after 1am this morning, I received like many others, an email from PG stating the typographical errors etc., and the cap shouldn’t have been 35% but, 50%. A law firm of this size and supposed magnitude doesn’t make mistakes like that, especially where money is concerned.I was concerned to read reviews where people have been asked for passport and driving licence details, why are they being asked for this? It’s rather suspicious. As they already have many peoples personal details, if they then have passport and driving licence details plus, whatever else they may ask from people, basically they’ve got all that’s needed to access your whole life and finances. This makes me very uncomfortable!I have a suspicion that the latest email from PG regarding cap errors is the latest ripple before the tsunami and that at some point in the future, PG will be asking or should I say demanding money from thousands of people for their losses. It’s a No Win No Fee from the outset and, I believe they have After the Claim insurance should all our claims with PG be unsuccessful however, I feel well never see compensation.Further, as we’ll be likely intimidated into capitulating with their financial demands, should our claims be unsuccessful, they’ll then likely want our bank details as well.Given they’ll already have much of our personal and private data, giving them bank account details, we might as well sell our souls to PG too as I believe we’ll all reap the wild wind from this firm and all potentially owe them money.Further, if you withdraw your claim now or in the near future, I’m sure you’ll be slammed or threatened with a legal bill pretty soon after.Does anyone else have similar views or feelings, I’d love to hear?Did it not occur to you when you first signed up that there is always an element of risk when engaging parasitic law firms to attempt to obtain spurious compensation on your behalf, when you have suffered no quantifiable loss in the first place? In terms of the potential for being liable for a legal bill, the MSE article itself does highlight this potential pitfall: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/diesel-emissions-group-legal-claims/

50% of nothing is not that different from 35% of nothing.
Right now seems like a good deal, instead of a potential large bill for legal fees

I've merged several similar posts into one thread. Thanks,

Did dieselgate affect other manufacturers other than VAG? If its only VAG then that ship has sailed0

I too received an email with the typo error message etc, very uncomfortable about them having my personal details and basically control over what happens next. Am I correct in thinking if I cancel they can charge me for the work to date? They haven’t responded to my email so I will contact FCA0

Has anyone contacted FCA as I think we need to escalate this?1

@liveonelife I haven’t seen anyone post about FCA but a great idea if they are quick at responding as we have a small window according to the emails we all received !0

NAL (as they say over on reddit) but don't you simply tell them that you do not agree to the change as the 35% figure was the reason that you signed originally and the requested change is considerably to your detriment and their advantage. They are then free to cancel the contract from their end without penalty to you or to accept that they can't change it.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Not the FCA, The Legal Ombudsman.
But you need to follow the complaint's precedure
https://pogustgoodhead.com/complaints-handling-policy/What to do if we cannot resolve your complaint:
If we have not resolved your complaint to your satisfaction within eight weeks, you can refer your complaint to the Legal Ombudsman, who investigate complaints about service issues with law firms, and they will look at your complaint independently.
