***Door creaks open***

It has been a while, I was on here under a different username many years ago. I had trouble logging on when the migration to the new format happened and I constantly got thrown out.

But a few years have now passed and any glitches I hope have now been sorted :)

A bit about me - married mum of 2, been in debt for years, lots of tweaking of the budget and finally the debt is going down but nowhere as quickly as I'd like.

Still learning and still plodding along.

More about the debt later for now it's good to be back.

Current debts - Lloyd's card £4130.00 (0% Oct 23) - Barclaycard £3400.00 (0% Oct 24) - Lloyd's loan £3640.00 - Curry's £441.00  Total owed - £11,611.00 Credit card total owed - £7,530.00

Aiming to kick the debt and lose the weight by the time I'm 50.

    Afternoon,

DH and my respective paydays have come over the last few days and I have allocated payments respectively.

    Debts are as follows:

    Lloyd's card - £4185.00 (0% Oct 23)
    Barclaycard - £3500.00 (0% Oct 24)
    Lloyd's loan - £4000.00

    Total owed - £11,685.00
Credit card total owed - £7,685.00

The loan was for the bathroom remodel that we did two years ago, I overpay this one as soon as the interest hits and I hate the odd pence here too and there so I usually take those off. The loan figure will change next week as the payment is due to come out usually around the 3rd.

The credit card totals are the lowest they've been for a long time, I'm quite pleased with how they're tumbling down.

    POTS

I absolutely love my Pots and I would be lost without them, I have various accounts dotted about that I use for various things -

    Christmas (HSBC) - £435.64
    Cars (Principality) - £300.00

Tesco Christmas Savers - £91.29 worth in points, £50 top up and £3 Bonus voucher

    Skipton

    EF - £350.00 (growing steadily)
DD College - £850.00 (used for all aspects of her course and sometimes DS's)
    Utilities - £550.00 (need I say more?)
Household - £150.00 (drip feed this one occasionally)
Glasses - £650.00 (high prescription results in high cost glasses but at least I don't have to pay for the test!)
DS Travel EF - £450.00 (It's there in case of need as DS often runs out of money and needs to get to London for work  )
    Current debts - Lloyd's card £4130.00 (0% Oct 23) - Barclaycard £3400.00 (0% Oct 24) - Lloyd's loan £3640.00 - Curry's £441.00  Total owed - £11,611.00 Credit card total owed - £7,530.00

Yay! I can now edit my posts, so my Diary title has now been amended.  I intend to keep this one for a while so why not change it  :)

I will be 50 in a little under 3 years (gulp! :o ), I'm currently peri-menopausal, unfit and a lot little chubby to boot.

Between now and then, I want to achieve a fair bit, from losing weight to becoming debt free and staying that way. As a family we have been in debt over 20 years and in that time it has fluctuated from being in the mid 20's to less than what we owe presently and it would be nice to not have to pay the debts one month.

DH is firmly on board, although he has never known about any of my diaries on here. I am the one that drives it and deals with the everyday finances of the household, something that has taken years to perfect but we have a budget that does work now.

I currently work full time in the Construction industry, the company I work for I freelanced for many years ago and at the time had to let my contract with them end mainly due to cov!d but I was lucky enough to be asked to come back on a permanent basis a little while ago, so of course I said yes.

The payment for the bathroom loan came out last week, so the debt totals are now as follows:

    Lloyd's card - £4185.00 (0% Oct 23)
    Barclaycard - £3500.00 (0% Oct 24)
    Lloyd's loan - £3820.00

    Total owed - £11,505.00
Credit card total owed - £7,685.00

I don't really have a plan in place for the debt (unusual for me as I always have a plan) as it is ticking away nicely but I do want it gone before hit the big 50 so that needs thought; I am in the process of putting a plan in place for myself though and hoping to get myself in a more happier place than where I feel I am at the moment.

I can't remember who it was but one of the long time posters on here used to put three things on her diary that she was grateful for everyday, one I think I would like to start.

Things that make me happy today -

    1. DS has transferred his apprenticeship to a decent company
    2. DD has a Guide camp to look forward to this weekend
    3. Budget has been updated

    Current debts - Lloyd's card £4130.00 (0% Oct 23) - Barclaycard £3400.00 (0% Oct 24) - Lloyd's loan £3640.00 - Curry's £441.00  Total owed - £11,611.00 Credit card total owed - £7,530.00

    Fat to Fit

Currently I weigh 87.8kg (approx just over 13 stone  :o ) I want to ideally get down to 76kg initially by the time I'm 50 I'd like to be even lower and fitter.

I do have a gym membership that I should be using even if I just use the pool once a week, it is currently sitting there doing nothing and all I seem to do is veg at the weekends.

This weekend I will use the pool.
This weekend I will move more.
This weekend I will watch the amount of junk I eat

  • I can totally relate to you. In debt up to my eyeballs- £53,000 and overweight. I started my diet yesterday. I want to lose 2 stone. I've gone with the no pressure approach so I have till next April, around 2.5lb a month.

    Good luck!!!

Thank you :) I think a no pressure approach is a good way to start too otherwise I would lose interest quickly.

Good luck to you too x
