Another vote for X-O from me. I recently sold a couple of certificated share holdings that we'd had for decades. One of the holdings had been in a DRiP scheme so was spread across about 30 certificates!

I'm curious as to why Equiniti charged for transferring the shares though. Is that because it was from a deceased estate? We transferred certificates from my wife to myself for free with them. It wasn't quick but all it cost was a stamp.

I also wondered that. Must be an extra cost for certificated shares. I transferred 2000 odd Lloyds electronic shares in Equiniti from my late father to my mother and then from my late mother to me for no cost at all on both occasions all within the last 3 years.

It's not just the certificate thing. Our transfer was from paper certificates in my wife's name to paper certificates in my name - no charge. Weirdly there is a charge for transferring paper into electronic form, which is surely cheaper than transferring paper to paper!

It was indeed from my deceased Dad's estate.  And there were a mere 450 paper to paper and 125 electronic to electronic transfers.  They charged £20 to sell the 125 - with a meager £32 return after costs.  I do not want to pay another £45 for their pleasure of selling via their platform.  Can I sell them on x-o.co.uk even although they show on shareview/equiniti??

  • Hi,
you will need to transfer them in first, use link in post 2 above.

  • Just sold them on Equiniti with a flat rate discount code.  Glad to get rid.  Wont use Equiniti agan if possible.  No replies please  - closed
