1st insurance would have issued a default yes, however, when they sold the debt to another company, they mark the initial debt as settled and the new firm registers a new default (it must be backdated to the point of the original default). The company who bought your debt are the ones to talk to now, 1st insurance having sold the debt will not deal with it any more
Post or email depends on business preferences and what you chose when you used them - they can send some things by email though notice of late payment, then default, would normally be by postSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

As you are not getting any joy from anyone at present, my next step would be to contact the ICO and see if they can get the incorrect data removed.0 -

Hi - resurrecting this thread as it seems most relevant and I hope someone can help
A friend of mine has recently discovered a CCJ lodged by JC International and looking into it, there appears to be a case that the contract was agreed by someone posing as my friend - effectively identity theft. I'm helping my friend challenge this and looked into the "N244" form to get the CCJ set aside. However, it's not clear if I can fill this in and send it off on behalf of my friend. The last options on the form are "Applicant", "Litigation Friend" or "Legal respresentative" and I can't tick any of those boxes.
Any advice?
