Do you need a 17" screen?
It not only pushes the price up but makes the laptop heavier to cart around.

In my opinion it will be quick and boot up fast , has got a large hard drive and large full hd screen

However it's big at 17" and heavy at just over 2kg , not very portable and will get tiresome on your lap after a while.

If you use it on a desk great , portable not so much

It looks ok, provided you are using it at a desk/table. (You won't use a laptop on your lap because they are awkward, heavy and set your legs on fire)
A 17" screen is about as small as you'd want to go for more than a few minutes use, unless you are a young'un with fantastic eyesight, rather than one of us seniors with dim eyes...

If you want something to use in your lap, get a tablet pc.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Some laptops are awkward/heavy yes but most nowadays are designed for use on the move and to use on your lap , keeps the young uns happy , don't think they care about us old uns when it comes to things like this.....

Maybe things have progressed a pace then, the collection of laptops I have here all set my trousers on fire or give my legs 3rd degree burns if I use them for more than 5 minutes on my lap!

    Yes I do - I have had a 17" i5 Asus for the last 9 years !
I am used to a big screen - I don't need it to be particularly portable (I use it in the living room)

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

    How would it compare to my X75VC (i5 3230M / 8Gb DDR3 / 1Tb SSD) ?
    I guess I am asking about the Ryzen 7 7730U processor ?
The battery on my Asus has been replaced twice and is now badly in need again, half the keys are worn out (I rely on memory as to where the T, A, S and E are)

  • Hi,
if you just use it at home why not just plug into mains, forget about battery?

If you use it at home, why not buy a PC with a sensibly-sized large screen?

I do have a 5 year old PC with  i7 24" screen - But that is in another room - I prefer to sit in an armchair in the living room with my laptop on a table in front of me !
