Eon Next - repeated difficulties signing in

After quite a bit of trial and error, it would seem that the VPN service I am running is causing the problem - but there was no problem at the beginning of the week !!!!
VPN on, I get an error message when attempting to sign-on. VPN off, there are no issues signing-in.
This applies across the full range of kit I use . . . an HP Pavillion Laptop (I5) running a dual boot Windows 10 and 11 set-ups (Home) and a homebuild AMD Ryzen 1300x running Windows 11 pro on an Asus board.
I had a similar problem with my on-line bank, where if VPN was on, the java-based payment system wouldn't work - everything else in the banking software worked fine. . . . Turned the VPN off and it was OK.
Eventually I found that the VPN was duplicating some of the services provided by my ISP's Virus protection software and, on turning-off the duplicated functions in the VPN software i.e. a partial turn-off, full function was restored to the banking app.
I suspect that this was another of those situations where an earlier Windows only banking front-end had been ammended to accommodate access from mobile devices and that the software that faciltated VPN in the mobile devices supplanted/corrupted/messed-up the interface of the original Windows code for VPN access.
I tried this solution with the Eon App, but it didn't work. Only quitting the Windows VPN software fully restored successful sign-in.
I should think Eon have been rolling-out an ammended Windows software, perhaps in response to ammended Microsoft software.
Restoration of the Android tablet proper function can wait till tomorrow

I also have been having login failures over the last couple of weeks ... Windows 11 Home, no VPN.
Able to login yesterday, but not on previous days and not today on Chrome; tried Edge and was successful, then Chrome again, successfully! Weird or what.

Think I may have found the solution to the VPN issue . . . load and start the browser extensions for the Nord VPN proxy (After quitting the main Nord desktop application).
I've done this for both Chrome and Edge and both allow problem-free access to Eon Next login. Pheeeeewwww !
To do this in Chrome, start the browser and click the three vertically aligned dots in the menu bar at the top right-hand side of the screen . . a large drop-down menu box appears . . .use the cursor to highlight the extension entry and a separate list box will appear to the left . . . this gives you an options "Managing Extensions" and "Visit Chrome Store" . . .best to select "Manage Extensions" . . . this brings up a full size window showing the Browser extensions already installed so that you can check whether Nord is already installed . . .If it isn't installed then click on the three horizontal bars in the menu bar on the top-left of the Browser . . .this brings down a Extension menu list box . . . at the bottom of this box you will see the "Open Chrome Web Store" entry . . . double-click and you're taken to the Chrome web store where you can select, download and enable the Nord Browser proxy.
Once installed re-start the browser. After re-start, locate the jigsaw piece icon in the menu bar of the browser (Top left) and single click . . .a drop-down list box will appear and you should see Nord VPN proxy listed . . click on this to start. Then re-start Chrome and all should be well.
With Edge, it was even easier, find the extension entry in drop-down list box that appears after you click the three horizontal dots in the menu bar at the top-right hand-side and click the entry whereupon another list box appears showing the installed extensions. In my case Nord VPN proxy was already installed, so that all I had to do was click the entry to start it. Then re-start Edge and your're away.
I think in both browsers, certainly in Chrome you can select how the extension operates i.e.on all web-sites or on selected ones only.

When I got the "no can do" message, whilst trying to log in with a saved password, I just manually deleted and retyped the last digit of the password and it then logged me in.
Fluke or 'simples'.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Access through a web browser (Edge or Chrome with Nord installed as an extension) on the Desktop Windows machine is still working today.
My phone running Android 12 seems quite happy to log-in the Eon Next today, with Nord VPN running as a main app, using the Eon Android app (Version 1.7), but not the Web interface.
The Lenovo tablet running Android 10 only logs in to Eon Next using the web interface when Nord VPN is running as a main app. It will not play with with the Eon Android app (Vers 1.7) under any circumstances.
And the phone running Android 9 will only connect using either the Eon Android app or the web interface if Nord VPN is turned off
And unfortunately #Sea-Shell's fix didn't work for me with the Android 9 phone.
How long any of this stays this way is anyone's guess . . . 'til the next Microsoft system update ?
Fupping toy computer system and fupping over commercialised companies that won't pay for proper IT Support and Customer Services and are more intent channelling funds to shareholders rather than producing good service. Cnuts !0 -
Works for me on every device and under all circumstances.
I suggest you stop trying to use obsolete equipment in obscure combinations rather than complaining about them not paying for proper IT.0 -
Eon-Next Twitter saying they are not accepting overseas website access, so for people on holidays etc no website access to update meter readings before July. They will however accept readings via email.0
