Garden seems a bit of a bodge

Hi
My 1974 property’s back garden doesn’t seem to be very well put together. I’m trying to figure out the design of a bed that has kerb type edging and random concrete and bricks thrown in. I’ll probably need to keep the stone edging as it’s solid but there’s odd gaps in places.
The pebbledash type wall is the first in a line of on block garages. I plan to take out the earth and plastic sheet and replace.

Also wondering what type of stone is used for the walls. It’s coming apart in places.
Any ideas appreciated.

    Interesting and weird.
The edging you can still get in a builders yard. The block wall was a trend back along. I'd tahe the blocks from the odd narrowing at the top of the steps (that's going to be irritating) to ues elsewhere. The topping stones are also still available. I have double sided ones atop a brick wall.

Pressure washing the slabs and wall will make a huge change in a short time.
I used a wire brush with a long handle to do the coping stone which is crinkley, and the dirty bricks and mortar. Came up looking really nice.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Usually, when yuo find some weird thing somewhere, it measn there's a problem and the owner couldn't be bothered to sort it, so just covered it. There may concrete under there, or a mish mash of more bricks and stuff because to have hoiked it out was more trouble or money than it was worth. Or they just couldn't think of anything else to do with it because of the garages The wall is a seventies eighties thing that used to be popular, lots of little low walls everywhere to contain earth, mark out things etc...
