I’ve had cases closed whilst I’ve been the phone to eBay, within a few hours of them being opened.

They used to but going back 18 months or so they started with this 3 business day lark, probably to cut down on CS time which is a pain as if the buyer closes the case rather than CS I don't think you'd get the auto feedback removal that applies when you "win" by eBay closing the case. 

I’m trying to think how long it’s been since I had an INR where I had proof of delivery, it could be over 18 months ago, it certainly wasn’t very recently. 

My current INR case as a buyer is open and I thought that the seller would get it closed immediately as he uploaded proof of delivery but it still shows as having an escalation date of the 30th.
