Barclaycard customer service – making problems even worse... not better

I was paying a Barclaycard bill through the app on Monday. Got an error message. Neither my current account nor my credit card showed any signs the credit card bill had been paid. When this happens on my Amex, I can typically rely on the fact that it didn't go through. So, about half an hour later, I paid again.

But later, I saw the same payment show up twice as ‘pending’ on my current account. Used the chat service for Barclaycard, who could not see what the problem was. Called customer service instead. They told me to ask my bank to cancel the excess transaction. Bank only did this after several calls, chats, etc. (again, could not understand anything as customer service is delivered from India) but the next day… both the payments went through anyway, and because I always pay my credit cards in full (so that I wouldn't be charged interest), this resulted in my credit card actually having a positive balance on it. Bank tells me I need to go to Barclaycard.

Spoke to Barclaycard again and after several conversations they decided to refund me the excess payments. But today, I realized that instead of refunding me the excess payment, they refunded me even more than that... AND CHARGED ME INTEREST.

I went on the chat service that was about to close within 25 minutes, and just before closing. Told this this person to look at the previous messages first. And just before closing, he responded to say that I was charged interest because the repayments meant that I didn't pay my balance in full.

!!!!!!. I did pay my balance in full through their app. It just so happens that their app apparently malfunctioned... and every single time I tried to speak to them, they just made the situation worse.

Can someone please let me know how to deal with the totally inept people that Barclaycard seems to employ?!?
