Youngest bought me one years ago - that lsted a couple of years when I bought a paperwhite - That lasted another couple of years and then in 2016 I bought my third. Basic Model.- still going strong and around 2,300 books.Few months ago I found my first in a drawer and out of curiosity I put it on charge - Lo and behold it works fine.Best pressie ever and the bonus is it was bought for me by my son.0

My dad who reads little has a paperwhite - somewhat more basic version but does the job for him.
I've got an Oasis but am an avid reader (and still don't use many of the 'features' of kindle) - the battery on the back is slightly raised which IMO is very useful - gives you something to hold onto especially if reading into the night laying down.
From an oasis perspective you can change the background colour, font type and size, bookmark where you get to, search your kindle library, battery is super... probably missing many things and you can possibly do all those things on the paperwhite (?).
Second the case comment - think mine is a 'moko' and fits perfectly (and significantly cheaper than an amazon case).
I took the same approach with kindle as I do with phones - buy the most 'recent' (as it was at the time) so it hopefully lasts the longest.
Aim:12mth Emergency Fund -> £8441/£16152 (52%) Aim 2: Mortgage Overpayment -> Paused until other aim fulfilled.1 -

The Kindle app is nice to have when you've forgotten the reader itself but reading books on it will get wearing after a while.1 -
I'm currently on my 4th or 5th Kindle. Last 2 were Paperwhites. This one is known as 11th Generation (2022 edition). It's slightly physically smaller in size than my previous Kindles although the readable part of the screen is much the same size. Screen brightness can be adjusted as can font size etc. It has 16 GB of storage and I reckon it can hold nearly as many books as my local public library. I would say it's the best Kindle I've owned and it's also the cheapest costing £84.99. If you have Amazon Prime the Prime Day Sale takes place on 11 & 12 July and you should be able to pick one up at a reduced price.
I also purchased a 'Forefront' brand case (11th generation) which has magnetic locking and automatic sleep/wake function by opening or closing the cover. It's a good piece of kit and keeps my device in pristine condition.0 -
Even with around 2,500 bhooks on my Kindle I still buy proper books.

I bought a second hand kindle for £25 when my laptop went in for repair.
Use it for the net, for podcasts, (can listen to what radio I like, when inc some stream only like soft rock) and you tube etc and can carry it from room to room.
Recipies it's good because bigger than a phone, smaller than a laptop
Because it was cheap I can take it into the garden or garage and not worry.
Kindle fire think might be a 7,one of the first.
Battery life is ok. The net uses more and because I've never signed into Amazon I just use it as a tablet. Haven't tried books, the charity shops are cheaper and I prefer not to have gadgets whenn I'm relaxing.
The library ones I haven't tried. It seems complicated but the info is on your library website.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Once you have downloaded a book on to a Kindle - is there any time limit to read it and are you able to share it with others ?
