Parish Council right to erect no parking signs for road next to village green

I think my nicer neighbour saw who put it up this afternoon and would have said if it was one of the troublesome neighbours. I must admit I didn't ask her if she knew who had actually erected it, but I'm sure she'd have said if she did recognise them. The reason I believe it is the Parish Council is that there is a tiny mention of waiting on new village green signage in some minutes from a meeting a few months ago. ...and here it is...As usual, a sledge hammer approach to crack a nut. The issue isn't those of us who park considerately but those who park for only a few minutes a day and don't care if they inconvenience anyone while they do so. Apart from those few minutes a day, there is plenty of room for people to park and get on/off drives. The signage is effectively stopping all parking anywhere on village green "Land". Which will stop those people living facing the village green having any visitors park etc. So, yes, I'm looking out for me, but it impacts them all hugely. As usual, unintended consequences galore!0

I agree. It will just stop "good girls who usually don't make waves" like myself0

That's a resident's home-ordered sign.

Thank you.
So... assuming the Parish Council believe the adjacent road is "Village Green Land" and they "own" it on behalf of the village (being the Parish Council), would that give the Parish Council the right to erect the sign and expect people to take notice of it? There's been no discussion with residents, no warning etc0 -

Why do you think the Parish Council have erected that sign?0 -
They haven't. The wording isn't Council.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It looks pretty obvious that the householder right opposite that sign has put it there.1 It is the only sign2 The position comparing with GSV shows it between the 5th and 6th white post right opposite that house drive.3 The phrase "Village Green Land" isn't the terminology that would be used by an authority or parish IMHO.5 Any parking restrictions would also be at the entrance to the land not seemingly randomly placed.Surely historical parish records, and the land registry would give a more informed view than any supposition, even starting with the records for the above house downloaded for around £3 might give a plan of their boundary.1

I suspect it is PC as they mention it in minutes in a meeting - a fleeting mention of they are awaiting for signage to put on village green. I have a meeting with a Parish Councillor tomorrow evening to walk through it (literally around the village green) and see what she has to say. But if it is a householder, then I'll start putting signs up as well - "No Parking Transit Vans or Skips on Village Green Land that you try to make out is your front garden" kind of signs lol
I will report back... I hope you are right that it is a householder and i can just ignore the whole damn thing. As I walked past at lunchtime, someone literally parked up beside the sign, got out and walked away...so it's really working lol2
