Hey everyone,

We're off to Guernsey in August, and for some reason it just occurred to me today see if Giffgaff goody bags were covered there under the EU roaming thingy, alas, they do not.

I have an A51 from Samsung, which has dual sim I believe. Are there any networks which would cover Guernsey which I could just get a package for data for this purpose?

Not sure if there is a site that allows you to search this without trawling through each providers terms, as it looks at the moment!

  • Is Guernsey not classed as UK. I go there almost every year and don't remember having to do anything...

Might be provider dependent, we went to the Isle of Man, and all bar for our provider (Virgin), class it as part of the UK in roaming terms.

    Well this is from GiffGaff,

Here is a list of countries where roaming is included as part of the giffgaff service

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guadeloupe, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Martinique, Mayotte, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine

Interestingly there was an older thread where somebody say their phone still classed them as being in the UK so did *not* switch off mobile data, then they ended up using all their credit very quickly!

Anyhow, this dial sim business is new to me, when you have two I gusss you restart the phone and it asks which sim you want to load or something? Or can it be done more on the fly?

I gusss I'm getting ahead of myself now anyway, need to find a network first!

It varies depending on the provider.

O2 includes the Channel Islands as does ID mobile (who offer cheap monthly deals). Not sure about Lebara but it's a case of checking each one to be absolutely sure.

I had a VOXI SIM alongside my VM SIM, you pick which one you want to use for what and I had the option for it to ask each time I made a call / sent a text.

Previously when I was with BT Mobile, IoM and the Channel Islands were classed as outside the EU / UK but were included as part of the Roam Like Home service. VOXI is the same, but VM is not.

Have you checked for a GiggGaff equivalent?

Looks like Tesco would do it, £10 a month for 20gb if you have a club card, https://www.tescomobile.com/why-tesco-mobile/award-winning-network/home-from-home#what-is-home-from-home

On my Samsung you use sim manager to choose which sim to choose. For calls you can select "ask every time" but for texts and data you select one as default. Then you can switch data on/off and see your usage in data usage.
