Car hire excess

Options
Renting a car in France later this month. It seems virtually impossible to find a policy for car hire which includes cover to the interior of the vehicle. With 2 young kids, 1 of which just scarred my wife's dashboard with a toy, I wonder why a) this is case, and b) how I can get cover for the interior of the hire card.

I don't think the terms are usually that specific? I insured via Zurich (which ended up being Halo/Broadspire) and the policy documents simply said excess insurance up to £6k. There was no exclusion on interior damage. I think in Europe the main thing is that you get a policy to cover the cost of any excess you have to pay. If the hire car company I'd used had charged me for interior damage I can't see anything in my policy that would have excluded that.
