I accepted an offer for an item.
5 days later buyer has not responded to messages / paid.
How long should I wait for payment?

Vinted is nothing like eBay at all and an offer is just an offer not a sale. It only becomes a sale when the person pays, until then it remains available for anyone else to buy. You don’t therefore need to do anything as there isn’t any timely manner and you have no sale. In some ways it’s quite a Good system, you can play around with offers and counter offers and there is never any non paying bidders nonsense like on eBay.

Vinted runs on offers, they are encouraged and having read the forums there it seems best to just deal with them and then forget about them. I certainly get several offers a day and some sell but I think most don’t . I also understand that each of the offers or interactions on an item gives the item a bit of a boost, which means it is more likely that someone else will buy it. It’s not uncommon to get an offer on a long listed item, then get a couple more and finally to sell to someone else for full price.

Thanks Soolin. I mistakenly thought, if I accepted an offer it was reserved for that buyer :-)

I think we all got used to the ebay systems and Vinted is so very different, I had to completely change the way I dealt with things on Vinted!

I've seen lots of items advertised on Vinted as 'new' that then says 'worn a couple of times'.
    That infuriates me.
New is not - under any circumstances - worn at all.

Absolutely, drives me to distraction. 'New' and here's a photo of me wearing it at my friend's wedding.........

Well done, it isn't a bad site as long as both buyers and sellers remember it is completely different to most other online selling sites.

That is actually very common, the little bump it gets when someone offers moves it slightly up in the visibility. I sometimes have something listed for weeks with little interest, then in the course of a day will get 3 or 4 offers on it.

I think I'm going to give Vinted a try and sign up for an account next week - see if I can move some of my daughter's clothing which is largely unused or very lightly used and just cluttering up the place.

    Any advice for a newb?

Incidentally what do Vinted charge in fees?

    Check the website out:
    How it works (vinted.co.uk)

    No fees.

I've commented on Vinted v eBay listings on a number of threads.

I really hate listings that say 'new' in the title and then 'worn once' in the description.
    Be honest.

I really hate listings that only have one photo.

In both cases, you've lost me as a potential buyer.

As per Pollycat’ post the seller pays no fees on Vinted, the buyers pay them all so take that into account when pricing goods. Offers are a big part of Vinted as well, and not binding, so accept as many as you want, counter offer on others and the item remains for sale until someone actually pays.

When you set up your account go into postage settings and turn off any services you don’t want to use as buyers get to choose which one they want from whatever you leave enabled. All the postage is integrated with Vinted apart from Royal Mail all you need do is choose small medium or large when you list. Then when someone buys you get  pre populated pre paid label from Vinted. The only one not integrated is RoyalMail and like many people I have turned that option off as you can wait weeks for your money as buyers have to co form receipt before your money is released.

All payments are handled by Vinted but as a new seller you will be targeted by scammers who will send fake labels or tell you they’ve paid by PayPal, ignore them all.

The forums are excellent BTW and there are lots of FAQ posts from experienced members that I certainly found very useful .
