It appears useful to people who live alone and do not want the hassle of having a water meter fitted?

depends on your circumstances - but when we had our meter fitted there was zero hassle. They knocked on the door to say the water will be off for about an hour. Knocked about 20 minutes later to say they we're done.Just as much (if not less) hassle than signing a petition. And with a meter you'd probably save more anyway.Just my opinion...3

Judging from the number of signatures, the answer to 'is anyone interested in this petition' seems to be 'no'.
As Matt says, just go through the process above. I pay £12/month for my metered water and any imagined 'hassle' (there was none) was well worth it.
As the petition states, 'A single person is likely to use less water than a larger household' - so get a meter and enjoy those lower prices!

How it is a hassle? Before long, everyone will have a meter anyway.... (or be on assessed if you can't have one, in which case there is a single occ tariff)2

Get a meter, you'll only pay for what you use wether you are a family of 5 that share the bath water or a one person household who likes to empty/refil their swimming pool weekly.5
