Ending listings early.

I've had a spate of people bidding then not paying so I changed almost all listings to buy it now. One slipped through the net and I forgot to change it. As expected another bid appeared with 10 days still left to run. I'm pretty certain it's another non payer competition blocking as the pattern is the same.

It still has 5 days to run but if I end the listing is there any penalty for cancelling the bid? It says I can either sell to highest bidder or end listing and cancel bids. I don't trust it's a genuine bidder and fully expect they won't pay anyway because the bid followed exactly the same pattern as the others when they bid at the start of a 10 day listing then vanish.

Will I lose anything if I just end the listing so I can make it buy it now?

Unfortunately if you cancel the bid and close the auction you will end up paying FVFs on the bid amount.

Even if it was a free listing? It's so unfair buyers can keep doing this. There doesn't seem to be any working deterrent apart from buy it now.

Yes and as it’s ended early you don’t get any FVFs discount even if it was listed during an offer period.

We do all get non payers but if you are being targeted make sure your seller preferences are set as tightly as possible. You can block buyers with 2 of more non paying strikes in the past year for instance. Unfortunately I think more non payers are getting through purely because so many sellers don’t bother with the NPB process.

Thank you. I've already got it set to reject bids from people with 2 or more strikes for non payment but it does seem I'm being targeted by people selling the same items. I always report buyer not paid for the inconvenience it causes me having to wait to relist. The pattern is always the same though and I can literally smell it, they place a bid at the start of a 10 day auction then disappear and you just know they aren't going to pay.

I think it amounts to the same thing, I can't cancel the bids without good reason.

What about blocking buyers with a low feedback score, could that help? The most frustrating part is that every one I've had this with has glowing feedback for being a wonderful payer..

Ok so I had all the settings correct but forgot to check the box that says '

Apply above settings to active and future listings'

Maybe that's how they got through? I've now applied it to all active and future listings.

don't cancel the listings let them run

if they end up being the only bidder and win and pay then just don't ship the item (but set the dispatched flag)

eventually you will get an INR and then all you have to do is refund them

But they aren't actually paying, that's the problem.

I’m not sure what’s being achieved by that, surely if they pay then all is well?
