buyer asking how much international postage is
FFHillbilly
I have the postage listed for the UK, and I'm opted into GSP, but every now and then I get buyers messaging me asking for a postage price to their country. what do I tell them, just put the item in your basket and go to checkout?

I usually just tell them that the item is only available via the global shipping programme and if they are logged in within their own country the costs should be showing. I have sometimes in the past checked myself (go into postage change your destination country) but it worries me that if they don’t know how to see the postage that I might have more issues further down the line.FFHillbilly said:I have the postage listed for the UK, and I'm opted into GSP, but every now and then I get buyers messaging me asking for a postage price to their country. what do I tell them, just put the item in your basket and go to checkout?
Very often though a request for a price is just another way of saying can you send it direct and not via GSP, but I always decline.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. thanks, buyer is telling me they get an error message saying it can't be shipped to their country (Slovakia)
checking this list here it appears to be covered
buyer has 0 feedback too, seems it could be a scam?0 -
Some categories are blocked from the gsp.
You could log out of ebay, find your item, select Slovakia as the destination and see if it shows up?0 -
Strangely my items don’t show as available to Slovakia either. Sometimes eBay get too many claims from a certain area and temporarily remove the country from GSP , Italy comes and goes from mine regularly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. well the buyer has now bought the item, but can't figure out how to pay for it. I told them to contact eBay, and heres the response:
Hi, I contacted ebay support and this is what they wrote to me.
I have checked the details and I can see that seller has not mentioned international shipping for this item. So in this situation there are two option what seller can do.
First, they can send you revised invoice mentioning the shipping cost of your location . Here the seler have to ship by themselves to yur location.
Second, the seller can cancel the order and relist the item from the below link. While relisting the item , seller need to scroll down to find "Postage policy ". Here the seller will see 3 dots besides :postage policy", click on that and then on "edit policy". Now , they have to check the box "Send it to the UK Shipping Centre, and the rest will be taken care of for you" and click on save and close. Once done they can click on list it at the very bottom.
Once done the seller can share the item number (relisted one) and you can simply purchase . This way seller can ship the item through Global shipping program of eBay.
Kindly share the above messages with seller and check what the option they want to opt to complete the transaction with you.
I've done that and shared the link with the buyer , no idea why it wasn't set automatically?0 -
If you check the actual item listing via the postage tab, does it show as Slovakia being allowed?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yes hopefully, they might get an extortionate quote from eBay GSP for the shipping and decide it's not worth it, then all of this would be for nothing! I've sometimes seen the price they pay and it does seem a little on the high side but I suppose they have insurance to pay forsoolin said:

Yeah i just had one there for a CD to France (I think) I was asking £14 and accepted an offer of £10. Then they've paid over £18 on postage. Is that realistic for what will be probably a 'large letter' or at worst a small parcel.0
