Also, does anyone think a loft insulation board laid flat in there could work, the celotex type ones?
Yes, I think that would be perfect. Cellotex would work, though any sheet will work just as well. You don't need the insulation given the small area.
For one of my chimneys that just has dried flowers in it I just used an old sheet of plywood, cut to size, with a few small holes drilled in it.0 -
In my disused fireplace in the dining room I put some 40mm polystyrene up there and put a 20-30mm hole in the middle.0
