So Energy fixed deal

Hi I am with So Energy and currently paying £276pm. I requested a switch to So Juniper tariff starting from 1 July. With the change the decreased the DD to £256 from July.

I am.not sure if this is a good move as allot of people are saying energy prices might go down so if I am fixed I will not be able to change without paying the exit fee.

What do you think fixed or no?

I have 14 days cooling off period

Thanks

Ignore the monthly direct debit, that isn't your bill.

Compare the unit rates and standing charges against what you think the variable rate might be (we know what it will be from July - Sept already).

On top of the July decrease they expect the next to decrease by 3 percent. After that its expected to increase over the winter. Whether that happens we will have to wait and see. I just signed up to £100 less than the July prices.

Hmm, do you know how much KwH you are going to use in the next year, is it going to be a warm/colder winter , you need to know how much energy you are going to use to be able to say you are saving £100 less than the July prices oh and what will the prices be in October and January? Could you post a link to your crystal ball.

I have done this. It will depend on your region what you pay. Mine is northern and it is slightly cheaper.I don't go on DD only the tariff prices and i pay seasonly to spread. costs. If it goes down well, i will just limit my energy. But i think with the world today it won't change much. So energy will tell you if you are on their best tariff and you can change if there is a better one with them without fees.   It comes down to what your risktake is like. At .the moment is seems firms are only offering to their customers.Already it has been taken off the market.

  • I have been with SO Energy for couple of years and am currently on SO Flex tariff. Following Martin’s programme this week I tried to change my account to SO Juniper fixed rate tariff. As an existing customer I can not remember having received any email offering this new tariff.

Having had no luck on line I phoned Customer Helpline to be informed tariff was frozen to new applications. Feeling rather frustrated I emailed SO Energy expressing my hope that applications were not being reserved purely for new customers.

I have just received a reply email response from SO stating this tariff has been stopped due to “an increase in wholesale energy prices”.

Excuse me for being rather cynical but how have we had  a wholesale energy price increase in this latest heatwave.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

    Heatwave = aircon (demand up)

Heatwave = still weather (generation down)

Heatwave = loss of solar pv efficiency (generation down)

Summer = power station outages for maintenance (generation down)

Heatwave / Summer = less hydro generation in Scandinavia (generation down)

Nothing about the heatwave but recent = the link that blf posted above

I'm sure there are other direct relations that don't immediately spring to mind.

Why do you think a heatwave should make prices go down?

It is based on the national average as per Ofcoms rule. It is £100 below the July drop,

Never a truer word spoken.  Our monthly DD is £68.  Our bill last month was £29.68 . . .

It does look like my one has gone through. When I login into my So Energy acc and click on Plan it states my current plan and plan from 1 July which is So Juniper.
