This must be very worrying and frustrating.
Someone I know is about to complete the sale of his wholly owned property in England but it is likely that the exchange on his new property in N. Ireland will not take place for a couple of weeks and is being handled by an Irish solicitor.
I had warned him that if a very large sum of money arrived in his bank account (albeit from a firm of solicitors), he might find himself in the "frozen" class and he would not then be able to exchange/complete on his new property.
Apparently the English solicitor is willing to hold on to sufficient of the sale proceeds to be able to make a direct transfer from his client account to the Irish solicitor's account provided that this will be for no more than three weeks,
Otherwise, I think that he will have to arrange an appointment in good time with an NI branch of his UK bank and see what can be arranged.
Perhaps a CHAPS payment made in the branch the next time to have to make a high value payment?0
