For anyone else thinking of doing this - we've always moved ourselves with either 'a man and a van' or easy van. So had our daughter we find it much easier. Although we have a cull of stuff when we move0

I think this subject has been discussed before. In my last few moves I have always hired professionals, usually a small local company with good reviews/references. Yes it’s more expensive but it’s worth every penny. Our last move was 5 years ago and as pensioners with a dodgy hip and knee between us moving our own things wasn’t an option
we also got them to pack the kitchen stuff and all the glass and china and pictures. It was a miracle performance. For those who pack everything themselves look carefully at their terms and conditions. If something is broken they may not pay out if the customer does their own packing. On our last move we went out for a long leisurely lunch at our favourite watering hole as we were moving too far to go back there.0
