KCOM broadband exit fees

We currently live in East Yorkshire where we only have one broadband provider, KCOM. We are moving house and are in an 18month contract.(you don't get any other choice of  contract length) As we are moving to another part of the country we are unable to take our service with us. I've argued that it is not our fault we are moving and they have the monopoly on the area . We are having to pay for the remainder of our contract despite not living in the property and obviously new owners will be taking out the service. They also want a months notice for moving(which I've given them) so I've I've argued my point, complained but not getting anywhere, any ideas ?

Cancel the cancellation and do a deal with the property's new owners.

Don't think you have any get-out from the early termination charges.

    It's not KCOM's fault you're moving either.

Unless there's something in the contract about not being able to transfer the service to a new address you owe them for the remainder of the contract I'm afraid.

KCom has the monopoly in the Hull area and nobody else can supply, for historical reasons.
If you're moving out of the area that's not KCom's fault so...  Either don't move or pay them off.

KCOM have the monopoly on infrastructure but offer wholesale access to other providers like Openreach do. To date I don't think any provider of domestic broadband has implemented a product using this wholesale access.  The infrastructure monopoly is not a statutory one since the council sold off its share ~15 years ago, but continues to exist as no-one else will invest to build out a network - that's true of a lot of areas outside Hull, where Openreach is the only network .
