Do you recognise this flower in our wildflower patch?

OK, I own up, I'm showing off the result of our 'No-mow May' wildflower patch! But there's one flower we don't recognise - the blue low growing one visible in the third and fourth photo. It's not dissimilar to nigella growing elsewhere in the garden, but much shorter, and the leaves are different. It was a commercial seed selection, the packet remains in its 'safe place'.

Thanks - that's the tall one! It's the much shorter one we're unsure about

Can't see a smaller one and I've just put my glasses on.
    Hands and knees photo?

Speedwell, eyebright used to be common. If it's alkanet get it out fast.

Saw scarlet pimpernell in a gutter today. Used to be really common in gardens. Haven't seen it for years. Also wild feverfew and others.
We really have screwed up the planet!

Lovely patches though. Where did you get the seeds please? I have a badger run I'd like to be useful.

It's not alkanet - we've got that unfortunately and are constantly hoiking it out.  Maybe scabious?

Think it might be Echium 'Blue bedder' now.

Mr. M tells me it came from Nova-flore, 'A floral meadow in my garden'. He can't remember what he paid, other than "it wasn't cheap"!

No, I grow that, and it has open, cup-shaped flowers.

  • Could you take a close-up photo of the flower in question @Misslayed ? It all goes fuzzy when I try to zoom in on the image...
