Non payers on ebay

Without giving too much away I am selling items that can be quite rare to some collectors and I could understand it if there was some targeted blocking going on. It certainly seems that way.theoretica said:RhondaD said:I thought this was a rare thing on eBay these days but this is third time in as many months and I'm now considering putting a note on all items asking people not to bid if they don't want it.I wouldn't - can't see it stopping anyone from doing this and might even attract nuisance bidders. Are your items actually rare enough, and valuable enough, to be worth blocking? On the positive side, dealing with a non-payer will be cheaper and less hassle than dealing with someone determined to make a return even if you don't accept them (eg damaging it and returning it as damaged)0 -
Are you able to do a second chance offer (or whatever it is called) to the second highest bidder?RhondaD said:Yet again. Another item I already had a buyer for then at the last minute someone else came along and bid an extra £1 then didn't pay. 😠A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".2 -
The FVF offer doesn’t carry across if this was listed in order to use the offer.Belenus said:

No, not until a certain amount of days, I have to report non payment first then offer again. By which time the original buyer is no longer interested. This happened last week. Same again, I already had a buyer and last minute someone put another £1 then didn't pay. By the time I was allowed to make a second offer the original buyer had already bought from someone else. I lost a sale of £32. It's so annoying this keeps happening. The most recent item was only £8 and they did the same thing again, bid an extra 50p then didn't pay and I then have to wait 4 days to relist and have lost another sale because the original buyer doesn't want it now. I even pre-empted it this time by having another identical item in reserve to put straight on buy it now and sent the link to the original bidder in case they were still interested but it was too late by then because they no longer wanted it.Belenus said:

Well I've spent some time this afternoon going through my listings and changed many to buy it now. Hopefully this makes a difference. Even if it's just stopping people bidding full stop 🤣0

Oddly as soon as I switched to buy it now I made a sale of £28. Hopefully this is the right decision.0
