Lol Just switched to Octopus from Shell mid Aug and also got a referral, so 50 quid up.

I've just sent a family member my referral link, and they've switched from Shell to Octopus this aft.

If you sign a contract before the sale, then the terms of the contract should be honoured by the new owners.

When OVO bought out SSE, many of the SSE customers weren't really even aware of the change for a number of years (OVO kept using SSE branding). It has only been recently they've changed the legacy arrangements, such as moving old SSE customers off quarterly billing to monthly, and even that has been done slowly and with notice.

I've just (last week!) signed up to switch to Shell broadband.

Does this mean I'll be one of Octopus Internet's first customers? Will my broadband be wind-powered? Will they send me a plush purple octopus to put on my router?

Oh, the *possibilities*

Shell BB is re-badged Talktalk. I guess the badge will be removed. Never had a problem with TT except when they got hacked and I got a lot of bogus calls. They did give me 3 months free football for this though. Dido Harding of 'track and trace' fame was in charge then. Shell have alleged to have been awkward when people have tried to leave. Returned routers not received apparently.

When OVO took over SSE the transfer over was a right pigs ear for some customers - many complaints and articles about the figures and bills being wrong

This is my second contract with Shell, I'm aware of the router-return requirement. But thanks for the warning!
