Water Smart Meter Fitted - but bill estimated - over estimated x4 actual dial reading

Logging in to my Severn Trent Account there is a facility to input a meter reading - see below - albeit I don't know if they will take any notice of a customer inputted reading. I know the algorithm for gas/electricity accounts ignores readings - even by a meter reader - that is outside a set tolerance and hence the computer 'thinks' is a mistake. AI anyone?

Yes I know but still not great if you want to monitor usageScot_39 said:

It sounds like I have the same one as you. Waste of time when you can only see the first of the red numbers and you have to round it up to the nearest 100 litres.Sterlingtimes said:
The meter is very difficult to read. I have to carry a bottle of soapy water to the meter to wash away the dirt. I have found that I can just read the numbers if the sunlight is good and I look at the meter from a single direction. The radio electronic module almost hides the numbers. This is poor design for a smart meter that is unsmart.Scot_39 said:Also the module doesn't leave much room to read the dials - given the location and mounting of my WM.
Like electric etc they ignore red digits.1 -

Like electric etc they ignore red digits. If you're being billed twice a year, a bill accurate to the nearest cubic metre will give you a daily average amount that's accurate to the nearest five or six litres. That's one flush of the loo.N. I know where you are coming from, and I have the same objective. I have installed two water meters under my sink: the first measures the water passing to my water softener, and the second measures the hard water usage substantially diverted to the garden hose. Unfortunately, the is a substantial disparity between the usage measured by the pavement meter and the meters in the house.Swipe said:I mean to monitor stuff like testing for slow leaks
I think that the water meters that I have purchased may be inaccurate but I am still concerned.
Within the house, I am using Leakbot to monitor for leaks.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -
Just an update - third bill finally arrived.
Shows account in credit.
As expected from second call - no direct debit plan.
Guess will set up an account to request it.
Calls like the first - too painful.0 -
Any SMART METER, whether gas electric or water should give the company suppling the utility an accurate reading wherever the meter is placed be it under the kitchen sink or in an outbuilding. If you give them a reading from the meter they should issue a revised bill.Someone please tell me what money is0
