Relocating to Chester or Wrexam

I'm relocating with my wife and toddler from London and trying to decide between Chester or Wrexam. Will be working in the North Wales area so both are commutable and we want to live in a town/city. We are both working professionals and would like to live somewhere with neighbourhood appeal that's safe and family-friendly.…

We lived, temporarily, just outside Wrexham in early 2021 in between house sale & purchase. There are some decent houses on the outskirts but the centre is a very sad place & but somewhere we wanted to visit.
Chester is a much more vibrant place, but comparable houses are more expensive.
Depending on where in North Wales you will be working, do have a look at Oswestry, or better still Shrewsbury, which is our nearest town. Much younger family member now happily settled there, and another is in the process of doing so. It’s a lovely area, not densely populated but with very good transport links and variety of houses.
