Virgin too expensive now

Gascar, I have gone through all my emails and contacted everyone to change my email address in readiness for leaving. That's one reason I stayed but not worth paying £44 for 50 Mb when I can get 38Mb for £12.

My situation is that I have a BT line but not a cable phone line.  I got rid of the cable line some years ago as I only wanted one landline, and felt the need to keep the BT line in case I would ever need it for broadband.  So for over ten years I've had Virgin broadband and TV, and in total I've been a Telewest/Virgin customer for around 23 years.  I can no longer afford what is now almost £1,000 per year, so last week I used online chat to advise of cancellation.  The best that the agent offered was £31 (I think) for broadband only.  I am due to be disconnected on 6 July.  I have not as yet had a call with any other offer.

Just had a news message on my phone, saying that Virgin is being investigated because they are making it too difficult for people to leave. I was more or less told 'Please yourself."

After 3 one hour long calls, and telling them over and over that I wanted something cheaper, possibly the social tariff, and being told the least they could offer me was 6GB for £32, I was finally offered 11Mb for £12.50 and can leave any time with 30 days notice. I've not noticed any difference at all using the internet or Netflix and online video courses. Not sure what to do now as I can get 35 Mb for £12. Do I stick with what's working or risk changing? At least I'm paying less while I decide.
