Quote from assembly instructions
It is optional to purchase a wooden plank and use it as a shelf.

Hi, Same here. Was surprised to see that Keter don't make the shelves and none are available on ebay (business opportunity for somebody?)
The confirmed measurements are 250 x 1250 correct (25cm x 125cm) wide

Their own advertising clearly shows a timber shelf fitted.

I have something similar (not Keter though) and made up my own shelf from sawn treated timber. It can get a bit damp in there - and sometimes I want to put things like hiking boots and cycle helmets away that aren't completely dry - so treated timber seemed best.
I didn't find it that easy to find a solid 250mm wide pressure treated plank around here (at least, I couldn't see it online and I couldn't be bothered driving around places looking). I just used a few smaller strips I had leftover from another project, screwed to crosspieces at a few places along the length. This worked out well enough for me, and had the advantage of leaving gaps for air to circulate - again, useful if you sometimes put things away that aren't bone dry.
