Hi all
Out of contract with BT and monthly cost of basic tv and fibre 2 now at £53 a month
we record free view channels only using bt box but don’t use any channels other than those

We can get sky bb only at half of that but was wondering is there a device out there we can buy that will let us record tv still ?

thanks
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

How long have you had the BT TV box? If it was delivered before 12 December 2019 then it's yours to keep (and use). If you have to return it then older BT boxes (record up to HD) can be had for not much on eBay.

Just took my old one to the dump Civic Recycling Hub as have received new BT TV Pro box, as it wasn't worth hassle of selling.

You should be able to pick up a PVR from most home electrics shops - Humax are a well known brand. We had one before VM We also had our old YouView box for a few years after we left whoever provided it. Work pretty much the same as the provider supplied boxes. Obviously, if you keep your current box, it should work as per usual.

What TV do you have? Some have built in recording capability if you add a memory stick.

Alternatively you can get a freeview box with a recorder built in.

What are you watching that you actually want to record though? Most channels have a catchup app where most programmes can be streamed from.
