Hi, my partner was checking his bank account for an Amazon refund when he noticed he’d had Amazon prime membership taken twice from his bank account this month …. He questioned this with them and they says they had only took one payment he had to contact his bank…. He then contacted his bank to find since 2017 he’s had most months 2 payments taken out of his bank through his debit card…. Amazon are refusing this and the bank are saying they can’t do anything about this….. please can you advise on what he can do thank you

Sounds like he’s set up two different accounts on Amazon. He’ll need to check this. If so, I can’t see what Amazon have done wrong. Not checking bank statements for 6 years is a bit crazy.5

Aside from not checking bank statements for six years, did he not notice he was getting free delivery and all the other bells and whistles you're confronted with every time you visit Amazon?
Or is he an infrequent customer?
Or does he perhaps have three accounts, two with Prime and one normal one, so he hadn't noticed anything on Amazon itself?
Ultimately, unless he can prove he didn't set those accounts up, Amazon owe him nothing. He should cancel the accounts with Amazon, rather than stopping the direct debits, because stopping payments won't close the accounts and will probably just lead to more administrative headache.0 -
Two payments would mean two amazon accounts with prime active.

Yeah had realised this years ago contacted them found he has one account refunded other payments kept a check for a while all good then they must have just started again…. Only one account can be seen by them and us but bank statement shows 2 payments being taken 🤷🏻♀️ …… just wanted to see if this has been happening to others and if anything can be done ….0

Ah, so he knew he had one prime account, had two at some point, closed one, and now they've spontaneously started charging again.
Had he mistakenly ordered something on the old account and reactivated prime on it? Or logged in to prime TV with that account? Something's happened to trigger payment restarting for the second account.1 -

Anyone else in the family have their own Amazon acc that may have his card listed in?
As Prime will default to payment method if another card expires.
Maybe go back to Amazon & ask the question is this relating to any known family emails address. They can not say which acc, but they can & will say yes, giving you a idea if it is a known to you account.Life in the slow lane0 -

Thanks all…. Always been one account sorry it was noted they had taken 2 payments before which they then recognised and this time they are recognising one account with that debit card but not the 2 payments that are showing in the bank account 🤷🏻♀️
thanks for all advice though 👍0 -
