This is a routing issue with Three (or whichever service provider the number was allocated to originally) and they've  not deactivated your old SIM.
This is what confuses me. There must be many people who have ported their number numerous times, possibly across three or four networks. So if I am issued with an o2 number then port to vodafone, then to ee, and then join 3, who handles my port from ee to 3? The number was issued by o2.
I've ported my main number 5 times now, but it was the first time, going from IQ (CPW branded 3) to the next, when I had the most hassle with missed calls, data not working, then no data when roaming and generally having to manually change settings on the phone for data etc.
My most recent change to O2 was completed quickly and no problems, which was handy as I went abroad 5 days later
  • My family have also suffered the Lebara porting issues having followed the MSE top deals advice. My wife and 2 daughters all switched and followed the porting process. After 3 days from confirmation of porting calls, messages and data are still not working. The Lebara support number does not work. The Chat support only advises there are issues and we should wait another day. It appears Lebara have significant porting problems. Wish we had not switched and hoping they can sort it soon!

Mrs B had an email last night at 19.36 to say that the port would be done on the same day ... 25 hrs later and still waiting!

EDIT - think they must be listening .... 20.52 tonight, we have an email saying 'job done' .
Bizarrely, the old Three sim still works ... wonder if that will last long!!!

    EDIT #2
Both phones give the correct number when dialling out.
Dialling and texting in go to the 'old' Three SIM
Texting out from the new Lebara SIM says 'message failure'
Texting out from the old Three sim works fine.
Dialling the original Lebara number gives unavailable

    Suggestions?

Unfortunately it seems quite common to have issues with the sms part of porting, however I cannot see how data is impacted by porting at all. As I understand it data doesn't rely on the phone number and isn't rerouted during porting.

When porting, its normal for there to be a brief period when both work for different things. Text messaging is the last thing to switch.

The advice is to limit use until everything switches. In particular using the old sim can cause a delay.

If everything hasn't switched after 24 hours then.contact the new provider and ask them to get their MNP team to investigate (Mobile Number Portability)

    Seems to be correct

Noted, but it was the only way to receive calls!

I (she) tried 'live chat' this morning but the agent just read the script saying wait up to 48 hours!

All fixed now - comments added above for other's reference

I too am stuck in Lebara porting hell.
    Moving from Vodafone.
I’ve had Lebara welcome emails showing my old number and I can see my old number in their app in my account, however I can’t verify it as requested because it says there have been too many attempts and to try later.
I’ve tried a web chat and 2 live calls. I’ve been asked to go back to Vodafone for a new PAC code. Vodafone tell me they can’t issue a new pac code because my number has already left them.
Lebara tell me my PAC doesn’t match my number, but it’s the PAC from the automated service, texted to my number just a few days ago. Then they say to wait 24 hours, and to try at 8am tomorrow (which isn’t 24 hours) I say if it doesn’t match, how is it going to match in 24 hours? I do think the call centre just give stock phrases that don’t really mean anything.
    …and on it goes.

I have asked Lebara to escalate and look at the contradictory things I’ve been told over the 2 calls and the webchat, but mainly just to provide a solution.

If anyone has a similar experience and can tell me what worked, please let me know. (I have also tried turning it off and on again!)

Hi. Has your old vodafone sim been completely deactivated? Calls and texts do port at different times and there may be a slight delay before texts are transferred. There can also be issues where internal calls go to one sim but cross network calls go to the other.
I'm not sure how you verify the number but what are you not able to do at the moment?
  • Yes the old SIM is deactivated.
People calling or texting my old number can’t get through, and my concern is if I attempt to use any services that send a text with a verification code, I don’t get those texts.
I have an email from Lebara yesterday at 3.30pm that says “ Dear customer, your existing mobile number has been successfully moved to the Lebara network.”

As per another post, I’m the family guinea pig for changing provider, and there’s no way I can recommend doing it, even for a good MSE deal.
