Starling bank expired debit card

I tried to use my Starling debit card twice today and it was declined as it expired yesterday - I hadn’t noticed. I’ve now done online chat with Starling who has applogised (not much help when I can’t use my account). They are saying there’s a delay and I should get it within 5-7 working days and can only order a replacement after 9 days. They say it was issued today - a day after expiry and there are delays in the post. They said I could add to my google wallet - but I can’t as the card has to be activated with the last 3 digits on back of signature strip. I’m lost for words at this poor service. Has anyone else has this problem?

When you try and add it do you do it from the Starling app?

Thank you. Sorted on Google wallet now. Will just have to wait for the actual card1

It's always a good idea to have at least two current accounts so you have a backup in situations like this.

I personally wouldn't use a fintech as my sole current account.A virtual card is okay but having a physical debit card is really a core part of the offering.0

I have Chase & Starling accounts.
The debit card have never been out of the house, to be honest they are still in the nice card wallets they arrived in.
Just use Google wallet.0 -

Starling are a fully regulated bank with FSCS protection and physical debit cards. It's never a good idea to have a sole account for anything, I have a number of current accounts and have my savings split between three different places.
