Parking fine by Secure Parking Solutions!

Hi, back again with another parking fine. This time by SPS. The reason being not registering VRN at a supermarket. What a way to con innocent customers.

Well, my husband has recieved the postal PCN. We haven't contacted SPS yet. But I wanted to do this right way this time. As the last PCN we got we made the mistake to contact the company explaining the reason, which we learnt, gave them exactly what they wanted.

So, what would be the first thing to do, as online reviews of the supermarket people have said no point going to supermarket to cancel PCN they don't care.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Have you tried anyway? Which supermarket? It may be that others have only tried through the customer service desk. Try finding out the CEOor as high as you can get up the food chain and complain directly to them that way. If they are not the landowners then find out who is and complain to them.

Go back to the Supermarket and demand (politely) that they have it cancelled because neither you nor your friends and family can afford to shop there ever again if every trip comes with a £100 surcharge.  If the local management (not the Customer Service desk) won't cancel it, find the details for head office and complain to them.  If they say there is nothing they can do, remind them they they are responsible for the actions of their agents and subcontractors and, as they have a parking terminal in their store, they must have set it up with the PPC or at least agreed with them to police the store parking.  Are customers supposed to believe that a parking company (PPC) just rocked up one day, installed their signs and a VRM terminal without permission or a contract - NO - I don't think so!

Its Milus Supermarket in West Brom.
It looks like a public road and they have a APNR cameras.

I will complain to the supermarket and see what happens.

So, I don't need to appeal? And just wait for the court claims if they send one.

Also, one more question, husband is only one on car insurance. So I'm thinking would that affect the whole, 'I am the registered keeper only don't know who the driver was?'

If the landowner of the retail park won't cancel it when you complain (AND DO COMPLAIN) you can ignore the daft £170  threatograms unless you get a court claim.

As the NEWBIES thread explains.  And you've had one before, you say, so you know it's true.  You need to be more careful; always take a minute to stop and read the signs in any car park, every single time.

But please come back here for the final Public Consultation (ON THE LEVEL OF PARKING CHARGES AND THE FAKE £70 ADD-ONS) in July if you want to help stop the scammers.

REALLY IMPORTANT THAT LOTS OF VICTIMS RESPOND.

The accompanying DLUHC 'draft Impact Assessment' about the new Code of Practice will hopefully include some welcome damning phrases to quote at LBC stage and in defences.  So you will want to read that anyway to help you with your case.

Together, we can stop the rotten parking industry from riding roughshod over the new statutory Code and the charge level caps intended last year, but blocked by the greedy moneymen.

If you are not likely to pop back here every week to check, please set up email alerts for this forum and bookmark this thread (below) as we intend that one of us posts on it when the Government opens the Consultation:

Read only the latest (2022) posts there. The PPCs have blocked the new Code by filing for Judicial Reviews.

Stopped the much welcomed parking code from February 2022, which stated that added £60 or £70 false 'DRA fee' extortion was to be banned and that parking levels would start at £50.  It's all on hold...

Motorists urgently need the statutory Code reinstated and the ban on false 'DRA fees' confirmed, to stop the rot and the toxic litigation culture.

This will be your chance to make a difference, plus other drivers you know (family, friends) who are also fed up with greedy and unscrupulous parking firms and the stranglehold they and their 'legals' have on people.

Coming very soon....and it will be all over the forum for several weeks.  Don't miss it.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Looks like a small independent store. Says "WB Stores Ltd" above but the two references to that company are showing as "dissolved".

Was this sign absent when you visited the store?

If this is where you parked, I don' think a contract can be formed with that signage although the GSV is from 2020:

Yes, my husband did say it isn't a car park but a side road.

I'm thinking to go and check out the signage around.
