Speak to them today and see what they say. I expect they'll ask you to pop along to have the job finished. I doubt they'll want to lose a customer over something so simple to rectify.1
-
You have the right for what you paid for, and signing something in a hurry doesn't override your rights if they clearly didn't do parts of the job. The trouble you'll have is proving it, and I suspect the sum involved doesn't make it worthwhile pursuing.
I'd accept the discount or just write it off and go elsewhere.0 -
A full refund would be excessive unless you are alleging nothing at all has been cleaned. They should either complete the job or discount proportionally for the amount that hasnt been cleaned.0

How much was the valet?
Given they did some work, you would not be entitled to a full refund.Life in the slow lane0 -
Wow, I had no idea a car clean cost that much! That does make me reconsider my advice earlier. I guessed it might be something like £30...
A fair outcome is to estimate how much of the job was done, and ask for a proportional refund. If they did 85% of the job, then a 15% discount is fair.0 -
Can you not just list the specific bits that they missed and get those bits done?
Or accept the 15% discount.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
15% does not sound to bad, but i would want that as a refund.
Next time find a local one man band that trades on their reputation of doing a good job. Local facebook groups are good for this.

With negotiation. As previously advised, you make a reasonable estimate of how much of the job was done, and ask for a discount commensurate with what wasn't. None of us can make that estimate for you. Is there a checklist of elements on their website, similar to a service checklist, for example? That way you could simply count which were done and which weren't, and arrive at your estimate.Cheechee said:I would say about 70% was done but I'm now unsure if that was even done properly.
The full valet was £90 and I paid an extra £30 to have the roof lining and seat belts cleaned. I was told it would be back to show room standard.
Some of the bits missed were
Roof lining is still dirty in places
Dirt behind seat belt mechanism
All door hinges and door closures dirty
All round the boot closure dirty
Wheel arches dirty (not even touched)
Dirt around pedals
Dirt around all window rubbers
A small bit of dirt still on paintwork
Seats not shampooed property, still lots of dirt
where chair and seat meet
I could go on . . .
I'm waiting for the manger to ring me back, I have a feelings this wont happen.
How do I get a satisfactory outcome?
On the basis of your own initial estimate (70% done), then you should ask for a refund of £36. You'd be silly to take this to court, because they've offered £18 off the next clean (or was it £18 refund?), so ask for £36 and if you don't get it, write it off and don't use them again.0 -
Easy to be wise after the event, but having noticed something which hadn't been done properly I would have been looking closely at the rest of the car. I'm guessing that the signature you gave was confirming you were satisfied with the work. As others have said, try pushing for a larger discount and put it down to experience.
