Takeaway pizzas have got to be one of the most overpriced types of takeaway. I've priced our home made pizzas before, laden with chicken and veg etc (far more than you get from the takeaway) and they came out at around £1 a pizza.February wins: Theatre tickets14

I have a Panasonic breadmaker and recently made pizza dough in it. Topped with ham, mozzarella and olives (all reduced price) and cheddar cheese, herbs, tomato purée and olive oil, it made a very passable lunch for two. It was getting the reduced price stuff from the food hub that inspired me, and it was stuff that would have gone to landfill. The food hub I subscribe to is That Bread and Butter Thing, they have groups all over the country. One life - your life - live it!16

Just a warning to test your long term preps...when I had covid couple of years ago, didn't want to bother family and friends...so fell back on my tins...stewed steak fine...with beetroot to give it a zing, ..even mince beef and onion.... but beef or any kind of casserole in a tin...is absolutely awful...I know its a matter of preference.... found 2 tins today checking my stocks , dates etc....Will leave them at the bottom of my block....16

But I'm cooking for 5+ usually so do volumes. I agree that a tin of stewing on it's own is awful.

I used M&S tinned mince and shortcrust pastry to make plate pie like my mum made. It was a staple for family picnics when growing up.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

@Floss I've done the same with Asda's own brand mince and onions. Last week I tried toasted sandwiches with the mince filling, sort of like a quick pastie! They were ok, just I put a bit too much filling in, and it squashed out a bit! They tasted good, with a bit salad on the side.😊2025 Fashion on the ration

And so on and so forth......at least on this forum we have access to good ideas and suggestions on how to buy and cook food as economically as possible, and how to avoid waste. I wish I wasn't the Kiss of Death to vegetables, otherwise I would grow them, but I must admit my herbs in pots on the patio are looking really good, and I try to remember to use them where possible.
Yesterday I used up some scraggy parsnips and the last two clementines to make a lovely parsnip and orange cake (there are plenty of recipes online for cake using root veg) and the carcasses of the clementines I chucked into a large jug with some fresh mint leaves and topped up with water. Kept in the fridge, it makes a lovely citrus and mint infused water. One life - your life - live it!15 -
