This is weird - side scroll bar is missing on MSE forum when using Firefox.

But it appears when on MSE using Chrome.

It just disappeared a couple of days ago, for no reason I'm aware of. MSE forums load as normal (on Firefox), but the RH scroll bar is missing, and the page cannot be scrolled using the mouse wheel or anything else.

What the?

Thanks for any assistance.

(I prefer using Firefox - the devil I know).

No idea. If there was, I didn't notice. It's only on MSE - all other sites are ok.

I get this too, on different websites, but not all the time.

I've no idea what it is, I just switch to another browser for a while, and then it gets better later.

It may be because I have cleared the cache in between - I do it so often I can't remember.

Rightmost 3 parallel bars > settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and site data > clear data

clear the cache, if you clear the cookies you have to log in again, not a big deal though, I'm forever clearing everything.

BTW, if you aren't using it already already, set a primary password for firefox to protect your passwords

    Rightmost 3 parallel bars >Passwords > rightmost 3 dots > options > use a primary password

You have to enter the primary password once per session, and again if you want to see a stored password or export the stored passwords

So if you clear all the cookies and cache before you switch off, and someone steals your computer in the night, they can't switch on and get into your social media etc without a bit of skill, and supposedly the password store is encrypted on the disc.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Problems with  profile based browsers are usually caused by one of two things:
    1) Extensions
    2) The profile itself.

The former you can prove to yourself by starting Firefox in Safe mode (what is now called Troubleshoot mode) thus:

If the problem continues in Troubleshooting mode that suggests a problem with the profile.  A new one can be made thus:

Note that making a new profile will not carry over the extensions from the first profile, so its always best to see if its an extension issue first, otherwise you're just using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Two cracking lumps of useful info, facade and Neil - thank you for this.

I'll work my way through it. Cheers.

    Thanks all.
Checked my 'extensions', and found 'Adblocker Ultimate' which i don't recall adding at any point, especially since I already have uBlock Origin which has always worked well.
Turned it off and restated Firefox - yippee, my scroll bar is back. But that's all - the rest of the screen is missing.
    Only kidding :-)
    Cheers!
