Try disconnecting the Humax when the TV is off and reconnecting when it is on.
    (This could break something though.......)

I have a Humax and a new Samsung TV. The Humax won't play nice and I just get a black screen* when I select its input (It has never autoswitched, it seems to be permanently active). Luckily I have the Humax connected to a switch box, and I simply turn the switch box on after the TV is on, and I get a picture.

If I forget and leave the switch box on when the TV comes on, that input has a black screen, no matter which input I select on the switch box.

Conclusion- the humax is just pants.

*black screen & no sound. This is different to "no signal" when a box pops up on the screen to tell me there is no signal, and I am stupid for selecting an input with no signal and should choos one of the others.
All very well saying the 'Humax is just pants', but you don't say it it's an old model or a newer one. Are you saying that Humax are just pants? If so, I don't agree... :)

I have a FVB-5000T and it most certainly is!

Plenty of complaints about the HDMI implementation on t'interweb.

The OS is pretty dire too, s.....l......o......w most of the time and annoying menu structure.

    I wouldn't get another.

It worked with the old Samsung, apart from the never releasing the HDMI thing, so it wouldn't autoswitch the TV to it as it was permanently active.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

I don't have a problem with my FVP-5500T even though it's been relegated to one of the office TV's. Switch it on and the TV comes on to correct HDMI port and no problems using the OS.
I have No problems with the Humax Aura that replaced it.
Sad that you aren't getting a decent experience.
Are all the TV settings correct to enable CEC. You don't say what model Samsung you have.

  • It is fixed it was my fault.
I thought that I should turn off the TV at the mains to save electricity apparently this is what caused the problem.
Leaving it on and it seems to work fine. I tried it 3 times in yesterday.
Why the old TV (only 18 months old similar model) didn't have a problem is another matter.
