Direct debit is when you give them your account number and sort code (and is covered by the dd guarantee). Most providers now ask for credit/debit card details and you pre-authorise them to charge you future payments.sevenhills said:Sure, doesn't everyone pay by direct debit?

No, an increasing no. of telcoms are debit/credit card only. Now TV has been from it's inception. There are probably others.
