Hi.
I signed up with Virgin broadband with an email address I rarely check. They sent an email in February that from May the monthly bill would increase by £6 and I had until April to respond to cancel the contract.
I didn't

I called eysterday to cancel and was told to sod off.
Is there anything I can do at this point?

Why not put a forwarder on your virgin email address, so that you don't miss future messages? Or, if you use an email client, just add the virgin account to that?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. You were probably told that you were too late to cancel your contract without having to pay a cancellation fee. You are now having to pay the additional £6
However, if your minimum period has now expired you won’t have been contracted for another 18 months. If you haven’t changed your services or negotiated a new deal your contract will now be on a rolling 30 days basis.
If you have been told you can’t cancel your contract you have been given false information. You can cancel by giving them 30 days notice1 -

Unfortunately, I still have another 8 months left on my contract and the cancelation charge is £180 which is almost the same as bills for the enxt 8 months.

I don't remember ever receiving a price increase email, so the £7 increase came as a shock. I phoned retentions to be told they couldn't do anything. I can only get slow speeds with other providers so I'm stuck.

I had this happen to my parents. Virgin sent an email one day saying Calls to 0845 and 0870numbers would no longer be free. It was baffling when the bill came to £300! I had to write to them and ask them to show proof of delivery of email and they they didn't charge us.
