FedEx Duty Payment

I purchased some parts from the states and have received the duty invoice from FedEx but the “total amount due” on the invoice is £0.00. Even though the sub totals are over £100. Not having done this before I thought I didn’t have to pay as it stated zero. Now I have a letter threatening legal action if I don’t pay within 7 days. Letter just arrived and already nearly 7 days. Is this a mistake their end or my end, have I misread the invoice?? Thanks

How much do they say you're meant to pay? I'd be tempted to send them a cheque for £0.00 in full and final settlement...0

The original letter states £0.00 in 2 places(amount due). , the follow up letter states over £100.0

This is the original letter/duty invoice.

How much were you expecting the duty/fees to be?0

Why cover up the other 2 £££ fields? Which may indicate a possible error.Life in the slow lane6

Because OP wants us to say that nothing is due based on only partial information. The answer they want to hear, rather than a more informed one, perhaps.born_again said:Why cover up the other 2 £££ fields? Which may indicate a possible error.3 -
Presumably the ones covered up are the two sub-totals that the OP says in their initial post totalled over £100....born_again said:Why cover up the other 2 £££ fields? Which may indicate a possible error.
I'm not sure why, having already said that, they would now want to hide them though....2 -
Sorry OP but an obvious mistake like this wouldn't be binding, it's incredibly doubtful they are going to take legal action so quickly so you'll be OK paying a day or so later than their demand

I am a bit disappointed in some of the answers above to be honest.I asked for some advice. The numbers are covered as they are private to me. Would the advice I asked for be any different from an approximation to the exact figures. The answer is no. This is the first time I have done anything like this. I have managed to contact FedEx today and they have been very helpful and the issue has been resolved. Thank you to those that have offered me some sound advice regarding this issue.1

The trouble is, you asked for advice but withheld information that was absolutely pertinent to the situation and to the advice able to be provided. Had you shown that there was clearly an arithmetic error, it would have been clear that FedEx were able to correct their mistake and charge you what was owed. If those hidden lines contained zeroes, you had a very good case for not paying because the bill was very clearly nil. Quite a different situation.6
