Is Barclays in breach of contract?

So I had an email from Barclays Bank who I have my travel insurance with. The email said that they are changing the travel insurance terms and conditions on the 18th of June. And in addition to still be covered by them, they say that if anyone has seen a doctor in the last 12 months then a new medical assessment is required to continue cover! I renewed my cover with them back in May this year, and therefore it should be valid until May 2024? Surely they cannot impose any changes to current covers? For the renewal yes of course, but not now surely they cannot do this?

Almost certainly the contract will allow a change in terms, subject to a certain amount of notice and a right to cancel and get a pro rata refund if you do not agree with the new terms.

Impossible to answer without seeing the details of the terms you agreed to.

So this is standalone insurance you have bought or the insurance they have as an add on package to their current account? As far as I am aware they only do the "travel packs"

Those policies are technically monthly not annual and so just require 30 days notice for them to make changes.

Strange....I haven't had anything from them!!

Then again - I've never had anything from them in a couple of decades of cover about having a medical assessment at any time.  Just that I have to update them if I've something medical to report.  And that's always been in the T&Cs.
