USA Car Rental Additional Insurance Charges

I recently visited Orlando and hired a vehicle from Sixt. On arrival to collect the vehicle I was ask if I wanted the additional insurances for Personal Accident Coverage, Roadside Assist, Protection and Personal Property Coverage. I advised the attendant I did not require this as I had purchased the cover in the UK. The attendant acknowledged this and asked me to sign the screen on the reception desk to accept the vehicle and acknowledge receipt of the key.  On return from holiday, I noticed a charge applied to my credit card for the sum of £265 applied on the date we left the US. I requested a copy of my invoice and when received noticed the invoice was dated the date we left the US and the charge of $330 was for the Personal Accident Coverage, Roadside Assist, Protection and Personal Property Coverage I did not request or require. I sent Sixt a copy of my insurance documents confirming I had pre-purchased the insurance in the UK, however they are refusing a refund.

Has anyone experienced this and what was the outcome of their experience?

Any chance you have a copy of what you signed on their screen?  If the attendant just nodded but then (as I suspect) didn't delete the cover on the actual rental policy that may be an issue.  Do you have any other evidence of you telling them you not wanting the cover before you drove off with their car?

you could try a charge back with your credit card.

Good luck, odds on they contest with the proof you have on the invoice.

MSE advice. Always check the payment screen before agreeing. 👍

After having signed the screen, were you not given any paperwork indicating a contract of some description?   Possibly your screen signature was an acceptance (unknowingly) that you agreed to the additional insurance.

I had exactly the same  thing happen to me many years ago in LA, I requested a copy of what I signed  and lo and behold  when they sent it to me ,I had signed for the extra insurance even though I said no at the desk

I suspect you will find the same, and you will be fighting a losing battle
