Expired. £5 GAMMONS at Tesco TILL GLITCH

Well, just to p**s you all off.....I got the last two at Tesco Musselburgh tonight. They were reduced to half price because they were short coded (lots of the fresh meat was reduced, including lots of turkeys) but the till glitch was still working so it still took the full price off. Fortunately I had a fairly full trolley load of cat food and beer and the SA was one of the local schoolkids, so the surprisingly low final total wasn't too obvious. I managed to suppress my glee until I got out into the car park....two free hams plus £23 off my shopping! And I got a free one last night too.
I'm giving two of them away though..one to the elderly couple next door, and one too a single mum friend. One ham plus twenty-three pounds worth of cat food is enough freebie stuff for me this Christmas, lol. Oh, and I timed it right for the final round of reduced to clear stuff, so got a pile of sausages and bacon for 20p per pack and organic yoghurts for 1p each.
Some days I really love Tesco....Val.0 -

Hi Skinflint, I know what you mean, you can't always stay at home when one of the kids is under the weather. I was a single parent for 6 years and there have been many occasions when I have taken one of them out when they have been unwell. I agree, a parent is the best person to judge if a child is well enough to go out or not. My sister once complained to me that I should 'keep her at home in bed' well actually sometimes getting out and not dwelling on being UTW is a bigger help as is fresh air.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

I think I can judge if my child is well enough to go out or not!! All I stated in an earlier post was that my baby was not too well. Trust me if me going out shopping would of affected him in any way then I would not have gone.
If I stayed in every time my children were sick then we would starve... Either you don't have children and dont realise how often they are sick with colds, teething etc or you are commenting about posts that you have not even read.
i have a spare one if you want it

I don't understand why there's any of these nasty comments to each other. Have you all forgotten the season of goodwill etc as well as the point of the original thread?
The OP should be thanked either by the thanks button OR in the 'catty' posts you have been making. I am appalled that you think that it is ok to hijack the thread with personal digs at each other.
I am absolutely grateful to the OP as I got a good deal out of this spot, I gave out 4 to friends and family and cooked 2 to take to church today which went down a wonderful treat. We still have a few left and are looking for local 'soup kitchens' to donate to. I really wish the OP has a wonderful xmas as it is well deserved, and I absolutely agree with others who have suggested this be the post of the month.
Merry Xmas0 -
Hey TheRealLongShanks
I wrote a simple post saying not working in my local store (to try and help someone) and I get dragged into someone elses argument who starts questioning whether I should be taking my sick child out.
I think that is hillarious and is what stops newbies like me from posting.0 -
I totally agree with you Soot Soot.0

I don't get why you were dragged in to this argument also?
I believe bevmk127 had the cheek to post a request for someone to pick one up for him/her, without giving a reason as to why they couldn't get it for themselves, and it escalated from there.
If people were a bit thoughful of others when posting (and i'm not singleing out bevmk127 here) then we wouldn't have these incidents.
Please don't stop posting, the forum relies on people like yourself who post to aid others and not just for themselves.
To restore confidence, have a read of the boots thread, the by-far friendliest thread on this board.
Hope your son is feeling better and that you and your family have a merry christmas, and a money saving new year:A0 -
