Eon Energy and paying back my credit

Hey

I have over £300 in credit and I've emailed EON asking for the money. They have offered me a partial refund and 10% discount on my direct debit. I declined this and asked for the full amount.

They have now said I can have the full amount but my Direct Debit will go from £55 to £130 a month. My monthly usage is £75 a month. Can they do this and do I have to pay by direct debit?

Thanks

Calvin

What is your annual usage and is you account up to date with actual reads or latest smart meter reads.

No you don't have to pay by direct debit but the costs will be higher.
You can choose whole of bill by direct debit but of course your bills will be higher in winter.
What is your annual use in kWh ?  That can then be converted to £/year and show what your actual monthly DD should be.
  • My annual usage according to my bill is:

    Estimated Annual Usage 2586.3 kWh

My account is up to date as of yesterday with meter readings

Never rely on estimates, always use actual meter readings.

Without sounding like an absolute moron, where would I find this?

Read the indexes on your actual meters and pass these readings to your supplier. Ask them to re-bill against these readings.

Find an actual meter reading from a bill a year ago and go and read your meter now. The difference between the two readings will be the units you've actually used in a year.

On your bills, but they need to be Actual, Customer, Smart, Our Reading, Your Reading etc but NOT 'E' or Estimated.  Find a recent reading and one12 months earlier.

Check what it says on your readings on your bill or online account.  If they say something like smart / customer / manual / actual - then ok, if they say estimate - not so useful (it might just be the first letter - A/C/S/E...)

If they are estimates, go and look at your meter on the wall and see what the numbers say - are they close to the estimates or way off?

Do you have two actual readings about a year apart?  If so, this will tell you if their estimated annual usage is ok or not.
