I don't quite understand your question of 'where do I stand'? You don't have to give her a reason if you don't want to: a lodger has next to no rights vs a tenant.
Your contract should cover the topic of overnight guests, it's a common enough issue.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I would suggest you have some archaic views of different sex friends. Some people are just happier in the company of a certain gender. It doesn't mean something is afoot.

I'm not clear whether the lounge is for your sole use or part of the shared parts of the house. If it is not shared use, then it is out of order for your lodger to use it in your absence. If it is a shared area in the same way as the kitchen would be, then I don't see it as an issue that the lodger is allowing guests to use it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I’ve had something similar. My lodger was having a couple of friends round. A friend and a “friend”.I would always tell her if someone was attending the house e.g. an electrician. But she never told me they were coming and they’d take over the kitchen. This past week one or both of them were here (at various times of day) for seven days in a row!
So I asked her to meet to discuss our different expectations around guests. I said I wanted to be told the day before, and also it should be a maximum of 3 times a week. But as a concession I said I didn’t mind if they used the lounge on those days, a room that isn’t included in our agreement.
She’s a student whose course is just finishing but she confirmed in the same conversion she’d like to stay for July and August, which suits me as I’ll avoid a summer void period before a new lodger comes in Sept.
So in my case a conversation and a bit of give and take was enough to resolve it.
I would not be comfortable with any overnight guests or with a guest using the bath or shower, but thankfully it hasn’t come up. I also wouldn’t feel comfortable telling a lodger they had to pay for overnight guests because I don’t want them to view me entirely as the evil landlord, I do actually want a friendly rapport with them.
In OP’s situation though with a lodger who’s only been there a month, seems like giving notice is the simplest course of action. Cameras inside the property are weird though and will put off many decent lodgers.2 -

They could always pee in one of the houseplant pots.I have cameras inside my house for security, and they send me an alert if they detect movement. I didn't think it was that uncommon. Outdoor ones are much more difficult to fit compared to just plugging one indoors, and depending on your layout it might not be practical to have movement alerts enabled on outdoor ones if it triggers every time the postman walks down the path. I don't have a lodger though, I admit that.0 -
