Best ways of selling secondhand car (for someone that really doesn't know a lot about cars)?
We've got an elderly (2004) Fiat Panda that we decided to fix & sell rather than scrapping. It's very recently MOTed, thoroughly cleaned, and running OK, but missing some service history. The only time we've ever 'sold' a car was our very first, directly to my husband's cousin about a decade ago, so I'm clueless.
It's too old for Auto Trader's 'instant offer' thing. The valuation from We Buy Any Car isn't totally terrible, but I would quite like to get back what we spent on the repairs, so ideally looking for a few more £. Are there other good places I could try? Advice massively appreciated - thank you.

Your local paper - in reality its not worth a lot. Perhaps £250 is all I would payNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Look at a number of sources to get an accurate value - it will be more than £250 if it's got nearly a years MOT and in decent order. I just did a quick google search and there are 2004 Panda's up for over £1k. Whether they get that is another matter, but always worth starting off a bit over what you want for it. Places like Gumtree and Facebook are an easier way to sell things.1

I guess you are not in the market for a low insurance, cheap to run starter car. Anyone who is would probalby pay minimum of £1K I would expect for a decent length MOT. I think the days of the £250 car are long gone. Personally I would suggest Ebay or FB Market place, price it fair and describe it carefully and honestly and you should have no issues.Robin9 said:Your local paper - in reality its not worth a lot. Yeah, you're looking at least £1000 to get something that runs and has an MOT now.
If you're on Facebook, then you can list it on marketplace, or gumtree, for a little bit more than you want as the buyer will want to knock £100 off no matter how well priced it is. Expect a lot of garbage queries about whether you'll take £50 for it, or swap it for a dirtbike or something, but you should get lots of genuine interest too since it's going to be a great first car for someone.

Perhaps £250 is all I would payI was thinking of selling my old Panda recently, and was surprised how much it's worth.I suggest you have a look at how much one that is in good working order sells for. It's unlikely to be less than £1000. They are very popular cars.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
You could try joining the Fiat Forum and listing it in their Classifieds.
It's free.
As Ectophile says, they have a massive following as they are very cheap cars to run.
Nothing really kills them except perhaps a rotten rear axle, so if that's in good condition, state that in any advert.1
