It's not even lowly suspicious, let alone highly.
If you read the posts above, you'll understand why you've received this email now.2 -
Nothing suspicious at all. This may put an end to the problem some cardholders are having in getting positive old Partnership Card balances refunded.1

Thanks! It took me a while to understand, (and the fact that it turned up in the spam folder didn't help), but now that I understand I feel more relaxed.0

No such email for me, not even in my spam folder. So thanks to @downshifted for posting the message.

Sorry to pick this up again but if I did receive this email considered it spam or for someone who hadn't switched to Newday. Today I find from Credit Score that my John Lewis C C has been removed and a new HSBC C C added.Should I have received a new credit card from HSBC or will my JL Partnership card still work?I have been paying my balance in full by DD to Newday so no balance either way.0

I have managed to talk to HSBC who were not a great deal of help and also chatted to Newday. The newer JLP account managed by Newday has not changed and the JL account removed by HSBC is the old account. Why HSBC have registered with Equifax that I have added a new account with them I've no idea. I didn't have any outstanding balance at the point of transfer to Newday.
As cymruchris has stated it's probably just an admin thing but that being the case why report it to Equifax? Next stop report to Equifax via ClearScore and any othet credit score agencies that I have definitely not opened an HSBC account.0 -

So as they probably keep an account 'active' but 'closed' for for say 3-6 months or whatever it happens to be - it may be that it's too soon to actually 'close' it on the credit history, so they have to revert the account over to a new account number, hence the new entry. Nothing to worry about though. It's purely administrative. The 'new' account will no doubt be marked as 'settled' soon.0
