Just had a letter pushed through letter box from ONS national centre for social research addressed to "the resident" with a £10 voucher in it redeemable for cash at a post office.
They say they will send someone to interview me. What is this about? Can i just cash the voucher and not agree to the interview? Is it genuine?

"Can i just cash the voucher and not agree to the interview? Is it genuine?"
I'm not familiar with this organisation or the flyer/voucher you've received. However, why would you think that course of action is the correct one to take?2 -
The way the letter is worded is that they are not asking for your help, it is worded as "an interviewer WILL visit you at your address" at no point does it offer me a choice to opt out of this and they have given £10 in advance.
I don't want a stranger in my house asking me questions and it doesn't say how long it takes.0 -
Just ignore it, then.0

But take the cash0

This rings a bell... back before t'pandemic my wife did a couple of online questionnaires for something like that and got vouchers in the post. Never had a visitor and always got the voucher afterwards.Krakkkers said:Just had a letter pushed through letter box from ONS national centre for social research addressed to "the resident" with a £10 voucher in it redeemable for cash at a post office.

Is there any small print? Does it perhaps say something like the voucher will only be activated after the visit?I need to think of something new here...0 -
No it says take it to a post office and redeem for cash.
No conditions attached.0 -

Why have I been selected?
You have been selected because your household took part in the National Study of Health and Wellbeing: Children and Young People 2017, and possibly the follow-up studies in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and someone in your household said that you would be happy to be re-contacted about any future studies.

That certainly does not describe me.0

When they knock on the door, just say no thank you and give them the voucher back.

I’ve just had something similar with a book of stamps and then a guy calling round wanting to interview me about my transport habits. For a government survey.0
