How can a supplier accept a credit card payment over the phone or remotely?

If he is set up to do 'in person' credit card transactions then there should be a way to do customer not present transactions.
If he's not set up to do credit card payments at all then he really isn't going to be able to do it easily.1 -

Do they generally accept cards? If so its a question to their card payment processor on how they can do a "cardholder not present" transaction
If you use a credit card via PayPay/Zettle will you still have the same Section 75 protection?
Zettle - is certainly safer but there was a host of theoretical conversations about it a couple of years ago where most said they should because its no different to the merchant using a traditional merchant account service however yet to find an Ombudsman decision to say one way or the other.... that could mean its because banks arent rejecting them but its also hard to search for as the complaint would be marked against AmEx or Barclays etc and Zettle or SumUp etc would be abbreviated to just Z or S making it unsearchable.0 -
The vendor eventually sent me a Paypal invoice, which I settled on my credit card without logging into Paypal, so hopefully I have some protection.0

Given that Zettle charges no monthly sub, and the card reader is a one-off from about £20, there's really no reason why even the smallest of small traders should not be taking debit and credit cards. Even our local Big Issue seller uses one now! The commission rate remains at 1.75%.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

The other benefit is they payout next day so not the long lag compared to traditional machines... however many companies are running slim margins and giving up 2% of the gross isnt an inconsequential sum.
Obv in this case we are not dealing with a UK company and the culture of card payments is massively different in other countries.0 -
